The European Commission has approved partial compensation for energy-intensive companies due to higher electricity prices resulting from the EU Emission Trading System (ETS). This €2.9 billion scheme enables Spain to reduce the risk of these industries moving production to locations outside the EU with less ambitious climate targets.

The maximum aid amount will generally be 75 % of the indirect emission costs incurred. Companies will have to either implement specific energy audit recommendations, cover at least 30% of electricity consumption with carbon-free sources, or invest at least 50 % of the aid amount in projects leading to substantial reductions in their GHG emissions.

Our Organic Rankine Cycles and High-Temperature Heat Pumps, adaptable to any thermal requirement and application, are perfect carbon-free solutions to reduce GHG emissions and qualify for compensation.
