IMIDTA/2016/29
In 2017, Expander Tech, S.L. developed the project “Development of a reversible high-temperature heat pump and organic Rankine cycle system for the recovery of low-temperature waste heat from cogeneration engines.”
A system has been developed that, starting with the cooling of engine jackets (at temperatures around 80-90°C), is capable of producing useful heat at a higher temperature (between 120°C and 140°C) for reuse in industry or for electricity generation when thermal demand is not met.
The developed system can operate in two modes: as a high-temperature heat pump generating heat between 120°C and 140°C; and as an organic Rankine cycle generating electricity. In both operating modes, waste heat at temperatures of 80-90ºC from cogeneration engines is recovered, heat that is difficult to utilize with current market technology.
The project has received support from IVACE (file number IMIDTA/2016/29) and has been subsidized with €58,509.20. This subsidy includes 50% funding through the ERDF Operational Programme of the Valencian Community 2014-2020.
IMAPEA/2016/26
Preparation of a proposal for the SME Instrument Phase II program. This activity was subsidized by IVACE under file number IMAPEA/2016/26, for the amount of €10,114.95, with co-financing from the ERDF funds. The funded activity consisted of consultancy fees for the preparation of proposals for H2020 calls for proposals related to the project “Zerocarbon energy: A new generation of efficient micro-CHP and High Temperature Heat Pumps activated with waste and renewable heat sources: (RANKZEROCARB)”.
