Rank® – Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) Modules
What is Rank®?
Rank® equipment is based on organic Rankine cycle (ORC) technology. It allows the combined electrical energy and useful heat production using a low-temperature heat source, with the associated economic and environmental benefits.
Rank® – High Temperature Heat Pumps
Rank® HTHP equipment uses low temperature heat (waste heat, renewable, or ambient air) to produce high temperature renewable heating from 100 °C with a small contribution of electricity. Compared to fossil fuel burners, it produces significant environmental and economic benefits given the high Coefficient of Performance (COP), between 3 and 4.
ABOUT RANK
RANK, founded in 2010 as a Spin-off of Jaume I University of Castellón, began with the design and manufacturing of Organic Rankine Cycles (ORC) and since 2014 has incorporated High Temperature Heat Pumps (HTHP) at the portfolio.
Since the end of 2021, the company has begun a new stage with the University’s departure from the company’s shareholding, leaving control of it in the hands of three of the founding partners. There is currently significant growth in business volume and a qualitative leap in the type of projects in which the company is involved.
To offer technology based on Organic Rankine Cycles (ORC) and High Temperature Heat Pump (HTHP) to the companies, in order to help them on their path to decarbonization.

Rank® machines
The Rank® machines generate electrical power and/or high-temperature heat from a low-temperature heat source, improving the economic and environmental benefits at processes.
First products developed by Rank® are the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC). This technology is especially suitable for
the revalorisation of low temperature and / or small power heat sources to produce clean electrical power and useful heat at lower temperature. Among the main applications of Rank® ORC equipment, waste heat recovery and the use of renewable heat sources stand out. These are systems of special interest when the useful heat is used in other processes to form cogeneration or trigeneration systems.
The latest products developed by Rank® are the High-Temperature Heat Pump, (HTHP). These systems allow the production of very high-temperature heat (up to 150 ° C) by consuming electric power. They are highly energy-efficient equipment when waste heat is available at a low temperature to reduce the temperature . Another application of the Rank® HP equipment is the simultaneous production of heat and cold, with a small supply of electricity.
In both cases, ORC and HP, Rank® offers machines that are capable of adapting to a great variety of temperatures and heating available/required.
A Rank® machine for all needs
Whatever you need, there is a Rank® module that can be adapted to it, with a range of products that cover different thermal and power ranges.
Rank® ORC equipment is capable of upgrading heat sources with inlet temperatures between 90ºC and 170ºC and thermal powers between 100 kWt and 2,700 kWt.
