Reciprocating internal combustion engines are a widespread and well-known technology. They are available for a multitude of applications, with powers ranging from a few kilowatts to over 5 MW.
Types of fuels for engines
One of the heat sources that can be used in combustion engines is the exhaust gases, with temperatures that reach 400ºC.
The cooling systems of the engine and the lubrication oil can also be used, although the temperatures in this case are lower.
In addition to combustion engines with natural gas or biogas, the waste heat of diesel engines can also be used.
